What Is The Twitter Hashtag BloggerNiceGirls all about?
Twitter hashtag bloggernicegirls is about promoting
other peoples blog posts instead of your own
Since joining the blogger community, I’ve noticed that everyone tweets their own blog links all the time. While this is great for finding new posts and new people to follow, I noticed that bloggers don’t really promote OTHER bloggers. There are a few people like https://twitter.com/IrishBloggerA https://twitter.com/BloggerConf https://twitter.com/TheGirlGangHQ and https://twitter.com/_IrishBlogs_ who retweet bloggers. They do a great job but in general you just don’t see individual bloggers tweeting out links to other blogs.
This to me just seemed a bit wrong. We should all be just supporting each other, not trying to outdo each other. The whole point about blogging is getting personal recommendations from real people about products or places or food etc. How many of us have gone to place or tried a product because of a recommendation by a blogger? So why not do the same with blogs?
I’ve found very much a Mean Girl attitude in the blogging community, the me me me all about me attitude. We all know how hard it is to get noticed in a very crowded community, so lets change things. Instead of being Mean Girls, lets be Nice Girls. Instead of competing, lets support each other.
The hashtag #bloggernicegirls came from this idea. During the #socialbloggers chat on Saturday 20 February I started chatting to https://twitter.com/CusMolly who blogs at http://www.lolakicksthebucket.com/ and https://twitter.com/hellodyuti who blogs at http://onetinywish.blogspot.be/ It started as a bit of a joke, but turned into something wonderful. The 3 of us came up with an idea to be the opposite of Mean Girls, the Nice Girls.
The idea is , instead of tweeting and promoting your own blog, you tweet about someone else’s blog. It could be a blog you like, or makes you laugh, a blog which inspires you, a blog you always comment on, a blog which has great products, whatever.
How Can I Join In
Just add a little personal recommendation, tag the person , add the blog link and #bloggernicegirls hashtag. Use the hashtag every day at any time, there is no set time or day to tweet.
Lets spread the love, support each other and make this blogging community a great place to be
Ive seen this over on Irish Bloggers on fb. Everyone who posts a link on there to their own content is asked to ‘like’at least a few other posts. They usually dont. I think #bloggernicegirls is a great idea! Hope it works
